Having cupcakes served to wedding guests in a fine-bone china teacup is definitely an elegant, perhaps more elegant than having cupcakes displayed on a cupcake stand.
If you are thinking of serving your wedding cupcakes in teacups, here are a few ideas to keep things elegant. Serve all the cupcakes in the same design of teacup, or no more than two-three different but complimentary designs (your banquet hall or caterer should have access to a large number of teacups that you can rent). Choose a design(s) that is elegant and matches your wedding reception decor. Make sure to serve your guests a fork, since it could be cumbersome to try to get the cupcake out of the teacup neatly.
